Chalo Coffee

The cutest cafe at yuzawa. The interior has a rustic vibe which we love and the food and coffee are good ! The toast is soft and fluffy while the curry is packed with flavour. Their burnt greentea cheesecake is to die for. So light and airy, its not like the usual dense cheesecake which we usually have. Owners speaks English as well, so definitely a nice place to chill before you hit the slopes !

I loved this place during a small stop in Yuzawa. It's a place with a lot of character. They make good coffee and also have a good selection of dishes and sweets. (The also sell some clothing in the shop) Definitely a great choice if you're in the area.

Hear me out! On a cold winter’s day, I found Chalo Coffee along the way. I came for the coffee, bitter and sweet, But stayed for the cheesecake—oh, what a treat!

My magical and favorite place in Yuzawa :) Chalo Coffee is one of those hidden gem places around the town. If you are looking for some cozy and welcoming coffee shop this is your place. They have speciality coffee, and different options how to serve it. They take care of all the details to make your coffee perfect, also they have soft drink, fruit juices and they are always changing depends of the season. The food is also awesome. They have options for lunch, and some sweet treats for your coffee time. What I most love about their preparations is that everything if made from scratch by the owners... Please try their yummy cheesecake... You will not regret! One of the best one I've ever tried in my life. Also they have yummy muffins and cakes. If you want to hang out in Yuzawa and find a special coffee shop in town...this is the best one. Can't wait to coming back to Yuzawa to have a coffee some mascarpone cheesecake :)

Came here during cold winter. The cafe owner couple were very helpful and friendly. The coffee was great accompanied with cool decor and cozy music. I personally loved their butter toast. What an experience!

Without question the very best coffee and cheesecake in Japan, is to be found tucked away in Gala / Echigo Yuzawa. Cozy, gentle, family friendly and the most wonderfully gracious service from the lovely owners. This beautiful little creation of theirs is a little slice of Heaven. I enjoyed multiple times and it was always wonderful.

Have you tried the best coffee in Japan? Found this quaint cafe run by a lovely family in the ski village. The basque cheesecake and cafe latte combination is delicious and amazing. We ordered the cheesecake, a rum and raisin chocolate muffin and cafe latte. The muffin was very flavorful. Walked out of the cafe after a satisfying time and a passerby exclaimed she had the best coffee here too. So we know we made the right choice!

Visited right after they opened. Was welcomed into the cafe and guided to our seats by the owners delightful little 2-year-old. Had their Basque cheesecake and coffee. Absolutely fantastic! Probably the most cozy cafe in Yuzawa. Highly recommended! UPDATE: Visited again 4 years later for some curry. Really good. Love this place.
